If you’re looking to create a social media pitch deck that will get results, take inspiration from some of the best examples out there. In this post, we’ll showcase 25 well-known startups and their most successful social media pitch decks. By studying these examples, you’ll learn what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to pitching your business on social media. So let’s get started!
What Is a Pitch Deck?
A pitch deck is the slide deck used in the presentation given to potential investors to “pitch” them for investment. (For more on the types of investors that you may be pitching for investment, read about the Advantages and Disadvantages of Angel Investors and the Advantages and Disadvantages of Venture Capital.)
Pitch decks typically consist of 10-20 slides that outline the company’s mission, market opportunity, value propositions, key team members and the team’s experience, social proof and case studies of the company’s successes, past clients and client testimonials, and competitive advantage and each competitor’s weaknesses among other details. The last slide of your pitch deck should describe what the startup is asking for in terms of investment.
Pitching using a pitch deck can be much more effective than a traditional business plan because it is concise and visual and allows someone to quickly understand the startup. Moreover, depending on the social media company you are pitching, interactive elements present in modern day pitch decks such as animations, infographics, visual aids, or videos can add enthusiasm to pitches and further improve your chances of being funded by potential investors.

Why do social media startups need an investor pitch deck
Startups need an investor pitch deck to quickly explain their business and its potential in order to attract investors. An effective social media pitch deck will contain detailed information about the company (e.g. the market opportunity, how the company has achieved success so far, the product or service being offered, the current and potential clients, business goals and revenue goals, etc.) and its plan to use the the invested capital to grow the company, and eventually deliver returns to the investors.

Social Media Pitch Deck vs. Social Media Strategy Deck
One really common mistake that many first-time social media founders make is to confuse their investor deck with a sales deck or a social media strategy deck that they might use in a social media marketing pitch with potential clients.
An investor deck and a sales deck are not the same thing. While the former is used to pitch investors and is focused on the business’ overall potential to to deliver a return to investors and the likely time frame of those returns, the latter is used to convince prospective clients that your product or services are worth purchasing in order to improve their own business.
So where a social media pitch deck should highlight the company’s performance, growth, past successes, social proof, and other factors that can affect future returns on an investor’s capital investment, a social media sales deck should focus on the company’s specific services that can benefit the prospective client’s business. Generally, this involves addressing the prospective client’s specific pain points and may include successful case studies of the company’s work with other clients that can help the potential client determine in the company’s services are a good fit for its needs.
A social media strategy deck is even more different. The strategy deck that a social media marketing agency may prepare to win a prospective client’s business will outline specific strategies for an effective social media campaign for the prospective client’s products such as identifying target audiences, creating content calendars, setting up a budget, etc.
